Founded in 1921 as a "Workshop for the processing of brass and nickel silver sheet metal, with foundry", Alessi has always stood out for the high quality of its products. In almost a century of history, the company has gradually evolved to become one of the leading "Factories of Italian design", capable of applying its expertise and excellence in design management to many different product types.
The Drop Ring was designed by Giulio Iacchetti for Alessi. It is made from 18/10 stainless steel with a mirror-polished finish. The name chosen for this collection of item is Noe (Noah), an amusing reference to the first man to plant grapevines and make wine.
The Drop ring is an ironic take on a diamond solitaire ring and Iacchetti has selected a tiny gem to embellish the ring that wraps around the bottleneck. Although seemingly decorative, the drop fits easily around the neck of most wine bottles found on the market. The diameter was well researched and was based on a study of wine bottles generally used by wineries. The black felt on the inner part of the ring can be easily removed, washed and put back in place, allowing for easy maintenance of this small yet essential wine-serving accessory.
